Classes
Ciro Melgaço will be teaching contemporary dance classes at Espace Ouvert every Saturday afternoon from April 15 to June 17, 2023. The classes are designed for beginners and will start with warm-up exercises, followed by the introduction of short choreographic sequences that will explore concepts such as floor work and weight transfer. The aim is to work on fluidity and anchoring, while also allowing time for moments of improvisation to focus on presence, authenticity, and use of space. Ciro's classes are designed to be friendly and welcoming, providing a great opportunity for participants to learn and share their passion for dance.
Exceptionally, on May 13th, the class will take place from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.

About Ciro Melgaço
Ciro Melgaço is a movement artist from Brazil who has recently settled in Montreal. He began his dance journey with Brazilian folklore as a member of the "Grupo Sarandeiros". During his time with the group, he performed extensively both nationally and internationally, representing Brazil in prestigious dance festivals such as the "Festival Internacional de Folclore de Nova Petrópolis," "Bento em Dança," "Passo de Arte," "Mondial des Cultures" (Canada), and the "Festival Latinoamericano de Correa" (Argentina), among others.
Ciro later expanded his dance education by studying ballet and contemporary dance with groups such as "Dança Jovem," "Grupo Sala B," and "Ballet Jovem Minas Gerais." With these groups, he traveled and performed extensively, showcasing their repertoire and participating in various festivals, including the "À Corps" Festival in France, "Danzamed," and the "XII Festival Danza en la Ciudad," both in Colombia.
Throughout this period, Ciro also participated in independent projects, such as "Because - O Espetáculo" and "Petite Fleur," which was entirely produced and broadcasted online in 2020. After completing the intensive "Big Bang" program in the 9th cohort, Ciro is now focused on discovering his unique movement style by blending all the different dance styles he has studied.
