ESPACE OUVERT is a support organization based in Montreal (Canada) with the mission to offer dance, theater, circus, visual art and performance artists several opportunities for their career development and artistic practice in a collaborative, caring and diversity-promoting environment.

Benefit from a personalized accompaniment with BIG BANG and develop a research work to start a creation process. Apply to the artistic residency program and have access to a spacious, bright and safe space for your creations. From September 11 to November 27, Espace Ouvert will offer morning contemporary dance training classes every Wednesday. This session will alternate between classes led by Nicole Jacobs and Stéphanie Decourteille.

BIG BANG is an intensive contemporary dance program that offers artists the opportunity to perfect their dance skills and to benefit from personalized support throughout a research and creation process of a solo.

Espace Ouvert is offering a daytime summer intensive from July 8 to August 22, featuring classes and workshops in contemporary dance, floorwork, acrodance, capoeira, acrobatics, hip-hop, balancing, and acroyoga. 

Dance Studio Rental

Whether it is for dance, circus, theater or any other discipline, it is possible to rent the studio of Espace Ouvert. The 2,000 square foot space is ideally configured for teaching, creating or rehearsing. It is bright and air-conditioned, with a 40' x 25' sprung floor, dance floor carpet, sound system, kitchen, and bathroom. The ceiling height is 12 feet.

SUMMER INTENSIVE 2024

DAYTIME CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS

Espace Ouvert is offering a daytime summer intensive from July 8 to August 22, 2024, featuring classes and workshops in contemporary dance, floorwork, acrodance, capoeira, acrobatics, hip-hop, electro, flexibility, balancing and acroyoga. The summer intensive will run for 4 weeks, from 10am to 4pm, Monday through Thursday.

MORNING CLASSES 

NEW SESSION STARTING FROM SEPTEMBER 11

From September 11 to November 27, 2024, Espace Ouvert will offer morning contemporary dance training classes from 9:00 to 10:30 AM for intermediate level and from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM for advanced level. This automn session will alternate between classes led by Nicole Jacobs and Stéphanie Decourteille. You can register for a single class (drop-in) or choose to purchase a multi-class card with credits for 6 or 12 classes.

EVENING CLASSES 

NEW SESSION STARTING FROM SEPTEMBER 11

Starting September 11, 2024, Megan Gaudreault will offer beginner-level contemporary dance classes at Espace Ouvert every Wednesday evening from 5:45 pm to 7:00 pm. Participants can register for individual drop-in classes or purchase a multi-class card with credits for 6 or 12 sessions.

AUDITION DEADLINE: OCTOBER 20

The Spring 2025 program will run from March 3 to May 25, offering nearly 330 hours of classes and workshops held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 9 AM to 5 PM, and Wednesdays from 12 PM to 5 PM. To apply, please submit your CV, a letter of interest, a video of a dance improvisation, and a floor work demonstration. You are also welcome to include a video in which you discuss your artistic vision and influences. Videos can be submitted via email using a private YouTube or Vimeo link.

Espace Ouvert is committed to providing emerging artists with the opportunity to pursue their creative research and work in a specially-adapted studio. Your generous donation will allow us to cover the rental costs of the studio, as well as provide financial remuneration for the artists' dedicated time and effort in their creative endeavours.
