Artistic Assignment
This piece is inspired by a Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. Her life was full of difficult situations, such as the accident that caused her serious injuries and forever shaped her life. It made me wonder what happens when something occurs in our lives that changes everything.
Since I have never experienced something quite like that, I began asking myself: Has something ever happened to me unexpectedly—something that changed me? I started to call this moment a “collision with reality.” How did I deal with it? What did it take from me, and what did it give me? What would it be like to meet myself from before that change?
