To the Child I Left in a Corner of My Room
Flavie Bonin
Biography
In public, I go by Flavie Bonin. To my father, I'm Flavoushka, and to those close to me, simply Flav.
If you were to remember one thing: I radiate yellow.
It's more than a color; it's an energy, a light, a state of mind.
I'm 18 years old, the youngest in the Big Bang cohort #15.
A sensitive soul, an artist at heart, and a lover of life, I've been dancing since I was 7.
An old soul in a young body, I am grounded, mature, always in search of meaning.
Beyond dance, I play the accordion, read passionately, let myself be carried away by music,
and feel at home near water and mountains.
I grew up in the world of competitions with my street dance crew. In high school,
the Sport-Études/Danse-Élite program introduced me to other styles: contemporary, ballet, jazz, acro.
At 15, I began teaching dance to young people aged 3 to 17, discovering another way to share my art.
Even today, I let myself be guided by the movement of the body, heart, and mind.
Every encounter, every project is an opportunity to create, learn, and shine.
If you see a yellow spark passing by… it might be me, figuring out who I am.
Artistic Approach
On the wall behind me, projected memories, images passing by.
Me, younger. Me, free. Me, whole.
I look at this child.
She doesn't judge me; she watches me.
I dance with her.
It's a solo. But I'm not alone.
So tonight, I dance.
For her. For me. For both of us.
It's a movement with many faces:
first simple, slow, almost still,
then it grows, intensifies, becomes fast, complex, alive.
A playful movement where I find that child again.
I explore my room like my backyard at five,
every corner becomes a discovery.
This movement can be immense, overwhelming,
then suddenly tiny, almost invisible.
Like a bench, solid in appearance,
but sometimes it starts to wobble.
